Assorted Favia refers to a variety of large-polyp stony (LPS) corals from the Favia genus, displaying a wide range of colors and patterns. These corals can include shades of green, red, orange, purple, blue, and yellow, often featuring fluorescent or high-contrast hues. Found in Indo-Pacific reef environments, Favia corals are hardy, slow-growing, and a great choice for beginner and experienced reef keepers alike. Many of our Assorted Favia are sourced from Eye Catching Coral.

Care Guide:

  • Tank Size: Suitable for nano (20+ gallons) and larger reef tanks.
  • Temperament: Moderate aggression – extends sweeper tentacles at night, so ensure proper spacing from nearby corals.
  • Lighting: Moderate to low (PAR 75-150); too much light can cause bleaching, while too little may affect growth.
  • Flow: Moderate – enough to keep detritus off but gentle enough to avoid tissue damage.
  • Placement: Best placed on lower rockwork or the sandbed, providing ample space for expansion.
  • Feeding:
    • Carnivorous – benefits from target feeding 1-2 times per week with mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, or reef-specific coral foods.
    • Also receives nutrients from photosynthesis via its zooxanthellae.
  • Water Parameters:
    • Temperature: 74-78°F (23-26°C)
    • pH: 8.1-8.4
    • Salinity: 1.024-1.026
    • Alkalinity: 8-12 dKH
    • Calcium: 400-450 ppm
    • Magnesium: 1250-1350 ppm
    • Nitrate & Phosphate: Low but detectable (NO₃: 5-10 ppm, PO₄: 0.03-0.07 ppm)
  • Compatibility: Best kept with other LPS corals, but ensure 3-4 inches of space to prevent sweeper tentacle interactions. Avoid placement near highly aggressive corals like galaxea, hydnophora, or torch corals.

Summary:

Assorted Favia corals offer a stunning range of colors and are hardy, adaptable, and relatively low-maintenance. With stable water conditions, moderate lighting, and occasional feeding, they will thrive and add vibrant patterns to any reef aquarium.
